Boy math is a symptom of the quiet revolution happening among women who date men
We aren't putting up with sub-standard behaviour anymore
To get you up to speed, the term boy math has been catching alight on Twitter/X, where women have been posting some of the funniest, crushingly true and at times dark observations about the conflicting, contradictory double standards from men.
Even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got involved, but beyond politics and finance (there is an excellent one from Casey Johnston referencing Elon Musk turning a $44bn company into an $8bn company), the vast majority of them are about dating, relationships and general life that women who date men are all too familiar with.
Some examples:
Boy math is wanting 0 kids but having 0 condoms on hand.
Boy math is wanting a traditional woman who pays bills.
Boy math is not being ready for a relationship but expecting relationship benefits.
The term came as a response to girl math, which was a fairly harmless joke started by radio presenters in New Zealand last month, where the premise is to justify crazy expenses and the kind of ‘girl’ logic applied. But while girl math was like the kind of throwaway line you might find in Sex and the City, boy math is much deeper, rooted in real issues, and I believe indicative of a movement of women who are no longer putting up with situations where ‘the math ain’t mathing’.
