I have a question about the necessity of outlines for a collection of themed personal essays, complete with beginning, middle and end arc. I've been writing essays as they come, assuming they'll all miraculously fit together eventually. First book. Have published essays in journals, but book length is a new animal. While I know there isn't a seamless roadmap for all to follow, it would be helpful to hear the benefits and pitfalls of creating and working with and without the structure of an outline.
I'm in the States (east coast) so sure to get things wrong and miss real time discussion. Might you touch on this subject if possible?
