Weddings and friendships: the collateral damage no one talks about
It still feels taboo to talk about the toll all those high expectations takes

I would love to tell you this piece has been inspired by recent wedding related shenanigans. But being in my early forties, most people I know are either already married, well into their second marriages, or are a way off from getting married because while dating casually at this age can be fun, finding someone who is marriage material is akin to searching for a gold sovereign ring under a sea of Portaloos post-Glastonbury.
However, the subject of weddings and friendships, perceived betrayals or failings is something I come across with some regularity, either hidden between the folds of the internet in Am I The Arsehole (AITA) posts on Reddit, TikToks, or lines steaming with angst within agony aunt columns.
