“The world has changed, and is changing.”

We’ve been saying this for decades yet we’ve regressed more than progressed lately it seems.

In what sense do you feel it’s regressed? In terms of women’s health eg in the US? I would agree - I think however women have changed - even if institutions and legislation are still stuck in the dark ages

Regression in women’s rights around the world is worse with the rise of authoritarianism especially considering abortions rights and access to healthcare in general. I guess some countries are actually progressing in those areas but America is vastly regressing which cancels it out especially when our policies can be so influential.

Not entirely sure I agree I’m afraid - it’s a great leap to say that’s what happening progressively in the rest of the world somehow gets cancelled out by one country’s regressiveness. The US’s sense of perceived importance (not to say it isn’t impactful) may be at play here especially given that eg it hasn’t yet managed to bring itself to elect a female president versus other countries that have had no problem having female leaders of state. Just my opinion, however.

Exactly, it hasn’t. And as we’ve seen yesterday politicians continue to systematically dismantle women’s rights that we thought would stay in place after the 1960’s Civil Rights era. This no doubt colors my perception of whether people are progressing. In many ways they are changing but into Christo fascists.
